If there is a comic convention to be reference worldwide, that would be San Diego Comic Con. Probably one of the oldest, as it has been attracting comics, sci-fi and fantasy fans from all over the world since 1970, during the four days it lasts more than 130,000 fervent visitors can find exclusive merchandising, great offers, friends from different nationalities, as well as the possibility to walk around disguised as their most iconic characters or attend conferences of their favorite actors.
This will be the first year in which Mooby’s will be attending this awesome convention and we are chewing our nails out of nerves. For all the attendants that will roam the San Diego convention center there will be 4 hectares with comic stands, merchandising for comic, movies or tv series lovers, clothes and every kind of stuff a fan may imagine and desire. Moreover, each year more than 400 guests from the comic world, including the greatest artists of the amercian comic industry, to sign autographs or make drawings.
As years went by. it has also become a reference for any tv series or film related with the comic world, such as Arrow, The Walking Dead or the Avengers, and nowadays the Hollywood side of the convention shadowed the comics one. It has become a common activity of the convention that the great superproductions give open conferences with all the staff members so fans can see their questions answered, or show exclusive trailers. TV showrunners also make their appearance to present their new seasons or to show pilot chapters. These free conferences are made in an adjacent bulding due to the great number of people that attend them, and the impossibly long queues that are formed to get to them (there are people who stay all night waiting outside to be able to watch and question their favorite stars).
In just four days (and a preview night on Wednesday) there are more than 700 activities within the convention. Apart from the official activities, the event attracts so much people to San Diego that the whole city becomes part of the convention. The buses are decorated with the new DC Comics TV series, rickshaws are made to look like chariots out of Once Upon a Time, and plenty other activities can be found, from a survival zombie based on the Walking Dead, to Star Wars breakfast and a great amount of concerts and parties at night.
If you thought these were enough activities, there are even more exclusive to press members like screenings, press conferences and interviews.
We may have to get Red Bull transfusions, but we will try hardly to cover every event we can in this great opportunity we have. We will try our best to keep you at date with all the news, keeping notice through our social networks (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Vine…) and make a small podcast with our adventures.
And don’t forget the #RetoComicCon, let’s see what ideas you come around!
